Isaac Massre, of Flatbush, always planned on getting a degree in social work but he changed his mind as to what population he wanted to work with. “I initially wanted to work with adolescents,” said Massre. “However, I realized that a lot of the problems adolescents have stem from the family so now I’m looking to do marriage counseling. It’s a way of taking care of several problems at once.”

Massre received his bachelor’s from Brooklyn College in psychology. “I realized quickly that I have a strong sense of empathy and I wasn’t cut out to go into business,” he said. Massre said he chose Touro after meeting with several faculty members and being impressed with their sense of mission. Massre said he always wanted to learn a foreign language and he took up Japanese two years ago.
