Adam Lukeman Wins NASW Student Award
National Association of Social Workers - New York City Chapter Recognizes Touro College Graduate School of Social Work Student
New York, New York – Adam Lukeman, pictured right, a graduating student at the Touro College Graduate School of Social Work, recently was awarded the NASW Student Award from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) - New York City Chapter. The award was announced at the NASW chapter’s annual meeting held last week in Manhattan, where Mr. Lukeman was an honored guest. He will officially receive the award at the School’s commencement ceremonies scheduled to be held on June 14th.
Mr. Lukeman, who formerly worked as a television producer and cameraman, decided to become a social worker after concluding that the media fails to give adequate attention to pressing social issues facing our world today. After graduation, he plans to combine his social work training with his media expertise to raise public awareness of social issues.
In selecting Mr. Lukeman for the award, the NASW relied on the graduate school’s faculty and administration, who identified him as demonstrating exceptional professional commitment, leadership, and dedication to social work values as a social work student. The Graduate School of Social Work’s Master of Social Work program is designed to train clinical social work practitioners to awaken and enliven the innate ability of individuals, families, groups and communities to learn to meet their own needs and sustain their own state of equilibrium, thereby enhancing human well-being. The program meets all academic requirements for both social work licenses: LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) and LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker).
