Touro College’s Graduate School of Social Work Takes National Initiative
School Partners With NASW

The presentation of the check symbolized the enrollment of all of Touro’s social work graduate students in the NASW. Dean Huberman said that Touro is the first college in New York City to establish such a partnership with the 145,000-member organization, and that very few universities in the nation have done so. Dr. Huberman said he intends to present an enrollment check to NASW every year to demonstrate to students the core values of social work that the NASW stands for: “social justice, community building, fighting poverty, and reducing human distress.” The largest organization of professional social workers in the world, the NASW works to enhance the growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies. Founded in 2006, in February the Graduate School of Social Work announced its national accreditation from The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the exclusive national accrediting body for social work. Today, the School has over 215 graduate students in midtown Manhattan and Brooklyn.
